Artist Talk - Meera margaret singh

Meera Margaret Singh is a Toronto-based photographer. With a background in anthropology and art history, Meera is interested in exploring the tension between documentary and fiction. She seeks to challenge the viewer through representations of fluidity (of culture, of gender, etc.).
In recent photographic and video works, Meera has questioned ideas of displacement and suspension through cultural, physical, geographical, and emotional states.
Her residency at 1Shanthiroad

has been spent creating new work focused on laughter yoga, With this, she is exploring notions of the ‘simulated’ and the ‘real’ as performed through the body.
